JSJ | Joshua Säde James is an emerging Canadian artist, originally from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. He has worked across Canada in various shows from coast to coast. JSJ began competing in talent competitions from as far west as The Calgary Stampede Talent Search, to Ontario to compete in The Western Fair's Rise2Fame, over to PEI to be a part of the Charlottetown Festival, to Newfoundland to play “Pepper” in Mamma Mia!
Prior to obtaining his Honours Bachelor Degree in Musical Theatre Performance at Sheridan College, alongside winning the Sheridan: Pop Award (For Outstanding Performance), Joshua has also co-choreographed, co-directed, and starred in his original Revue Diva Dynasty (Sheridan Institute PREP Production); he was born for the stage.
JSJ has dreamed of becoming a recording artist ever since he first watched his father, highly-decorated independent country artist, Jamie Warren, sing on stage. He would soon find himself locking himself in the basement and belting his little heart out. Later influenced by artists like Whitney Houston, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake & Christina Aguilera, Joshua’s voice, songwriting, and artistry continued to grow. Luckily both the KW Arts Fund & FACTOR (ADP) both realized the potential of this young talent, granting him funds to record new works.
His first single “Brave the Storm” had short-term success on college radio, but the style, the name and the brand just didn’t sit right. He began to write more and more to develop his message and sound. He later began producing as of 2018 after realizing the importance of self-sufficiency. Learning the true meaning of being an independent artist, Joshua Säde James was born. He has since fully or co-produced each released song.
Today you can listen to JSJ’s newest single “Gone” - a gemini’s lament to love - alongside his WCSW Award-Winning Single “I'll Wait For You”, are available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes & more! Joshua is an advocate for mental health and LGBTQ2IA+ rights, often using the medium of music to allow his experiences and own stories to be told through his songs.
He wants to incorporate a message of self worth and love within his message including his live performances. He is a talented and wonderfully hopeful young man searching to make people smile by letting them know that "you are worthy, you are loved, and you are imperfectly you”.
